A Song of Ice and Fire

A phenomenal miniatures rank-and-file war game by CMON based in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy setting. Players can choose from a number of factions from the series, such as the Night's Watch, Starks, and Baratheons. In addition to the typical combat back-and-forth, there are non-combat units available. These simulate the political intrigue prevalent through the novels and show, allowing players to influence and manipulate the battlefield.

How to Battle Across Westeros and Beyond!

Got your interest piqued and you've decided to stake your claim for the Iron Throne?

Below are some affiliate links for things I myself have purchased and tried out. See you on the field!

Faction Starter Boxes

Without a doubt, your best bet to begin battling for your claim to the Iron Throne!

Hero Additions

A quick follow-up to your fledgling forces would be to expand your list of heroes, giving you more options to challenge your opponent!

Attachments or new Units

From there, you can either boost your existing troops with Attachments, boxes of specialty models that give bonuses to your rank-and-file troops, or try fielding a new type of unit that wasn't included in your house's starter box, like cavalry, or archers!

Unit Cards

ASOIAF has been out for several years now, and during this time, the game has gone through many changes for balancing and clarification purposes. So, the unit cards in the starter boxes are now mostly obsolete, as I understand. Even the 2021 card packs are a bit dated. While CMON does have the latest versions available for download on their ASOIAF site, I have yet to find a product or service where you can purchase ready-made updated cards. To that end, am presently working on printing out the updated cards on cardstock, and slicing them with a paper cutter, before sleeving them up.

To note, there is an official companion app for the game that seems to be regularly updated with the latest stats for unit cards, thought I wonder if relying solely on the app may be a hindrance during gameplay.

Storage / Transport

Currently finding this solution works great for my armies:

Army Building

Happily, there a free and officially-supported app called War Council for managing your collection inventory and for list building as well!
